After a few months of absence, here I am back writing again.
Life has been a bit hectic but now I want to share more things I like in Barcelona. And I will start with one of my favourite restaurants here, Nomo. One of my colleagues introduced me to this place during my first months and after her, other people. And I must say that it is a place I like to come back to and bring people.
Why? The place is nice and breathes quality. The prices are reasonable for their offer. Our last bill amounted 97,30 Euros for two people, 5 dishes and a bottle of Sadi-Malot champagne (35 Euros). With all the dishes they have, you kinda want to sample everything. The menu is extensive, they serve the usual japanese dishes of sushis, sashimis, tempuras, rice, noodles and so on. Really, the choice can be hard. And if you are like me, I bet you want to stick to the dishes you loved but also want to try something new on the menu. So instead of feeling torn, well you just order it all. Right?
Anyway, the thing I like the most about this restaurant is firstly the fusion dishes, spanish & japanese, that I have not found anywhere else for now. The last two times I have been there, I have ordered the unagi to foie no ura maki that combines eel and foie gras in a ura maki. So delicious. I think about it and I want to come back for more. Last thursday, I also tried the hotate to foie no teriyaki which is a scallop with grilled foie and teryiaki sauce served in a spoon. The combination was nice, definitely interesting texturewise. They are serving other fusion dishes that I would like to try next time as well such as the iwashi no tataki or the sardine tataki marinated with iberic ham or the king crab tempura with pimientos del padron. Sounds good!
The second thing I like about it is that the restaurant serves classic dishes you will find in any other restaurants but with a twist. Last thursday, I tried a specialty of the house: the rainbow sashimi tartar with 7 different fish whereas you would only get salmon or tuna tartar in other places. Next time, I also plan to try their mini nomo burger with a rice base to see what it is about. So see? It is definitely a place to come back to.
